A Happy New Year 2025! / by Kumiko Jitsukawa

A Happy New Year!

2025 is the Year of the Snake “巳年”. Snakes, known for shedding their skin as they grow, symbolize rebirth, transformation, and resilience. They represent vitality, infinity, prosperity, and immortality.

In Japanese tradition, snakes are regarded as messengers of Benzaiten (弁財天), the Buddhist guardian deity. The white snake, in particular, is believed to be an incarnation of Benzaiten, one of the Seven Lucky Gods (七福神), and a symbol of good fortune and prosperity in business.

I am reminded of the beautiful idea that the circulation of money helps to build trust and express gratitude. With this in mind, I try to strive to make 2025 a year abundant in trust, gratitude, and meaningful connections.

While the past few years have brought challenges to the world, we step into this new year with hope for peace, happiness, and a brighter future. Like the snake shedding its skin to grow, may we embrace change, let go of what no longer serves us, and work together to create a more vibrant and harmonious world?

At Ki-Chu New York, we are dedicated to sharing the timeless beauty of Japanese culture through ceramics and Urushi ware at our workshops and events, bringing peace and joy to our everyday lives. We look forward to continuing this journey with you in the year ahead.

Wishing you a truly wonderful and prosperous 2025!

Warmly,

Kumiko
