Have you ever thought food also tastes differently depending on the tableware?
-Dine on beautiful “utsuwa” created by Kifumi Kawamura-

As you know, wine tastes differently depending on the wine glass.  Have you ever thought food also tastes differently depending on the tableware?  As you may also know, presentation is of utmost importance in Japanese cuisine. The tactile sensation of “utsuwa”, which is Japanese tableware, affects the taste of food and drink.  “Utsuwa” is one of the most significant elements to fully enjoying Japanese cuisine.

Originally started by Kifumi's grandfather, these exclusive dinners began with the Kawamura family inviting their important guests to serve a bowl of delicious matcha.  Before making matcha they served seasonal meals and great sake for the guests to savor a bowl of matcha. Now, Kifumi and his wife Kayoko continue this tradition of creating a welcoming atmosphere by inviting executive chef Kondo, well known for Kyoto-style kaiseki meals which he prepares from local fish and fresh vegetables in front of the guests. The meal is served on beautiful “utsuwa” made by renowned ceramic artist Kifumi Kawamura in a beautiful venue hidden in the hills of Kamakura, adjacent to a historic climbing kiln. Please enjoy the tastes of the season. This will be an unforgettable experience on your journey in Japan.
